What's your favorite Christmas song? It's hard to choose a favorite but I'm especially partial to "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," by Brenda Lee. It brings back the memory of watching Grand Ol' Oprey on Saturday nights with my parents and my brother. Dad was extra tickled by Brenda Lee,this little squirt of a 13 year old with a great big voice. At the break in a song, Brenda would say to the band leader, "Hit it, Red!" I can still hear Dad chuckle.
And now, after 65 years, "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" or "Rockin'" as Miss Lee calls it, has hit number 1 on the Hot 100 Billboard charts, knocking Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas is You" off the pedastle. I'm happy to say that I hear Mariah wrote Brenda a gracious note of congratulations.

Delighted with your blog, Barbara! Brenda Lee is my favorite, too. I love Christmas music. I grew up in a Christian neighborhood, and although I’m Jewish, I have always been filled with joy in sharing the Christmas spirit.
